How To Make Money On A Viral Video
So... you have a video on a social media website that has gotten a lot of views, or at least you aim to. Wouldn't it be amazing to somehow turn those views into money? Everyday, we hear about vloggers and youtubers who have turned their vlogging into a career. How did they do it? Because lets face it, being well known and doing what you love is great... but getting paid to do it is AWESOME!
We are currently putting these plans into action, but I felt it was important to share the information with our fellow Nutters so that you can do it too!
Here are great ways to start turning your video views, or even blog views, into CASH!!!
#1 ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE
Youtube is like any other company, they want to make money... and they want to make money any way they can. And if your youtube video is seeing a lot of traffic they will want to partner with you. Youtubers who have A LOT of views are usually contacted by Youtube with an offer. Usually the offer involves them asking for your parnership and allowing them to place ads in your video or on the page. If you agree you'd start getting checks mailed to you monthly! You can make up to 50% of the revenue! The youtuber father, who recorded "David After Dentist", made over $100,000 from YouTube AD's alone!!!
#2 PROTECT YOUR VIDEO
Many people don't even think about this, but there are millions of video sharing websites out there... or more. Many of them get their videos by feed from the YouTube site... without permission. While, yeah, more people seeing your video may seem cool at first, you want to maintain FULL control over your videos... Especially if you are trying to get paid for them. If other companies are showing your videos and you don't even know that they exist, it is impossible to get paid for advertisement from them.
One way to protect your videos is by using a YouTube program called Content ID. This program allow video owners to block other people from using their videos and from making money off of the videos. This also makes it extremely hard for others to duplicate your videos and play it on their channels on Youtube.
#3 Create And Sell Merchandise
What are the things that make your video stand out? What phrases are recognizable, or have the potential to become the next mime? Take those things and market them!!! The more merchandise the better, I say! From mugs, to T-shirts, to hats, and more!
There are many websites online that allow you to sell their merchandise with your logo, images, or catchphrases on them.
Here are just a few of them:
www.cafepress.com - pick your choice of what to sell from loads and loads of merchandise available!
www.spreadshirt.com - Put your images or catchphrases on a t-shirt, jacket, even underwear and more!
www.zazzle.com - One of my faves! This site is similar to cafepress in that they offer A LOT of merchandise! But I find this one a lot more user friendly. I use this site myself to sell greeting cards! X-D
#4 Make TV Appearances As Much As Possible
Think of all the new viewers who will be introduced to your video if you make it to TV!!! Everyone watches television. Most of the youtubers who have made it to popular television shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show, have experienced a great increase in views directly following their appearances. Plus being on TV is always fun! Also, Shows like Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel Live! air viral videos on their shows on the regular. So even if your video hasn't become viral yet, it can't hurt to send them a link to your video, by email and/or even twitter. It just may end up on their show! Keep in mind that many shows will also pay you for your appearance as well.
#5 Make Sure You Are Ready For Fame!
Fame always sounds A LOT more enjoyable than it really is... Geez, just look at the Celebs we see everyday on TV! It is a crazy rollercoaster ride that you HAVE to be prepared for, because if you are not, it can handicap your every day life AND affect your life many years down the road after your 15 minutes of fame are up! I suggest you have a well thought out plan, and stick to it.
So... that's what I found out so far. I really hope this helped you out! I would love to know what you think about this topic! ... or what you think about our blog so far! Your comments are ALWAYS welcomed, and we need feedback so that we can continue to improve.
Oh! And don't forget to send in your questions! The best questions will be posted here on urnutters.blogspot.com! Please email your name, country, state/providence, and questions to: pureviewblog@gmail.com! We look forward to reading your emails!
'Til next time, fellow Nutters!
